I’m flushed and apparently blaringly obvious when Jax opens up the side door to his Jeep and grins when I sit in the passenger seat and tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. He leans in and steals and kiss before closing the door.

“The almost legal ones. They’re always Kryptonite” Leo says and I laugh and Jax looks at me with a grin.

“She wishes” he says.

I fake a gasp and slap him on his leg and he grabs my hand and holds it on his leg and I smile. I relax my hand and leave it there as he moves his hand and puts the Jeep in reverse.

We arrive at the beach just as we all finish arguing over which place has better burgers. In and Out or Jack in the box. The argument is inconclusive and ends in me and Pix disagreeing with the guys.

When we get out of the car Leo and Pix walk ahead of us to the small boardwalk with a few surf shops and the small carnival going on. Pix jumps onto Leo’s back with a squeal and wraps her legs around his waist and neck and Leo carries her piggy back toward the Ferris wheel in the distance.

Jax nudges me with his hip playfully. And I look at him with a smile and nudge him back.

He reaches to my hand and takes it in his and I look down at it. Realizing I’ve never done this. Held hands with a guy. I’ve done plenty of other things with guys , many of those things should send me into flames if I ever step inside a church , but I’ve never done something as simple as hold a hand and I feel butterflies. I convince myself I hate the feeling, but I look up at Jax and he’s just looking ahead as we walk. I smile and squeeze his hand a little and he looks to me. He smiles back and leans over and gives me a quick kiss on the lips and keeps walking but I stop and his hand pulls mine as he keeps walking then stops and I pull him to me and wrap my arms around his neck and stand on my tip toes and push my lips to his and steal another kiss. He smiles and lets me plant another after that, and another. His hand holds me at my lower back.

“You done yet?” He teases. I shake my head and give him another and let it linger this time. Jax kisses me, pulling me into him and he starts to leave me breathless once again. I start to breathe heavy as I make out with him as people pass by.

“Giada. It took me the whole car ride to lose my hard on. Don’t do this to me” he whispers and laughs.

“Cmon guys!” Pix yells waving a long strand of folded tickets in her hand. “Ferris wheel!” She runs up to me and grabs my other hand pulling me from Jax and he laughs as she pulls me with one hand. She slaps some tickets into Jaxs chest.

“Here” she says. “I’m taking jade on the Ferris wheel. Leo won’t go on it cause he’s a little bitch” she teases him, Leo laughs and rolls his eyes.

I run after Pix as she pulls me in a light jog looking back over my shoulder at Jax and he’s smiling.

Pix hands tickets to the guy at the gate and we get in line.

“Sooooooo” she says with a laugh and nudges me with her elbow and looks behind me. I turn and see Jax and Leo standing by a bench watching us and talking.

I look back to Pix. “What?” I say with a little laugh.

She rolls her eyes. “Augh, what happened?! Did you seriously get him to cave already?!” Her eyes widen.

“Oh please!” She says and nudges me again. “You can tell me!”

“I really wish Jax wasn’t into you.” She says.

Pix laughs and holds her stomach. “Oh. You’re a comedian! Cause you MUST be joking!”

“He just met me. He’s just.” I shake me head. “He’s trying to fix me.” I say.

She shakes her head. “Doesn’t matter if he just met you. Jax doesn’t “hang out” with girls and take them on dates. I mean. He does. But only when he’s interested. He’s not trying to fix you. He’s trying to …” she searches for the word. “He knows the shit your dad told him. Jax tries his best to do good by those who deserve it. He’s just trying to treat you right. Not fix you. Every girl deserves a guy who shows her what she deserves” she shrugs. And so do I. Maybe she’s right.

She slides over in her seat and peers over the side.

“Honestly “ she says and waves down to Jax and Leo and I peer over the side and do the same. Jax smiles wider. “Look at that” says Pix. “Look at his smile.” She says. I place my hand on the bar and smile back down at Jax. Who keeps my eyes on his and the wheel brings us lower and lower and we keep our eyes on each other until we’re going back up the other side.

I turn my head to her and she’s nodding as I laugh.

Pix giggles and shakes her head. “I can’t. Jax wouldn’t like me having sex with you when he can’t.” She laughs.

“I’m almost eighteen!” I exclaim. “And he CAN he just won’t!” I say and she laughs.

“Augh” I say and look at Jax as we come down the other side of the Ferris wheel again. He smiles and waves and I stick out my tongue. He flicks his at me. I scrunch my nose and turn back to Pix who is laughing at the exchange. We pass by the bottom and go up the other side again.

Pix laughs. “Truly is.”

“So what, do you guys like share with each other or what?” I ask.

Pix shrugs. “Not always. Some of the girls he hooks up with arent into it.”

“How old is Leo?” I ask.

“22” pix answers.

“How long have you two been together?” I ask.

“Three years” she says.

“So you weren’t legal when you first started dating.” I say.

“Nope. But Leo and I knew each other growing up. And Leo’s parents kinda gave it their blessing” she laughs.

Pix laughs. “Well at least he’s not totally holding off on EVERTHING. you’ll live. It’s only a few months.” She says.

“Yeah. Right” I roll my eyes.

When we exit the Ferris wheel Pix and I walk up to the guys and Pix pulls Leo towards the tilt a whirl.

“Think you can handle it babe?” She teases and Leo laughs sarcastically. Jax laughs as they walk away then looks back at me.

“When we’re you gonna mention you have sex orgies at your house?” I ask.

Jax laughs. “What?”

“Sharing partners?” I ask.

He shrugs. “Didn’t think it would help any to bring it up.”

He shrugs. “Pix can do what she wants, and we’re not exclusive. So. You can do whatever you want” he says and looks ahead.

“Would you be mad?” I ask.

He seems to be thinking about it. So I let him but he doesn’t answer.

“Would you be mad?” I ask again.

“Mad? No. I don’t think so” he says.

“Soooo I can?” I ask.

“Why are you asking me for permission Jade?” He stops walking and looks at me.

I look at him in confusion.

“Because.” I say.

“Because why?” He asks.

I look down at our feet and shrug. “Cause I don’t wanna piss you off.”

“Why not?” He asks.

“Because I’m not an asshole?” I say as if it’s obvious.

He hooks his fingers in the top of my shorts and pulls me into him.

He shakes his head. “I’m not your babysitter Jade. Do what you want” he says and his mouth comes closer to mine.

He smirks. “I’ll let you. When you’re legal” he says.

“So what are we doing then. I’m supposed to hold out until you deem it acceptable to fuck me?” I say.

“So”I say when he pulls back. “While you’re waiting for me to turn 18, you’re going to fuck legal chicks?” I ask and he smiles.

This makes him throw his head back and laugh and then he looks at me shaking head head.

“Yeah. I definitely like you” he smiles.
