Ava Arbor
I roll my eyes as I hear my brother and his friends inside the beach house being loud and most likely drunk. I was stuck sharing the beach house this week with my brother and his college friends. My parents allowed me one week alone as a graduation present, and allowed me to bring a few of my friends.
I look at them through my sunglasses as I lay on the lounger, my friends Sarah, Jess, Jazz, May, and Lindsay all trying so hard not to look like little puppies in a window as they do their best to pretend they don't want to go inside and hang out with college guys.
I sigh.
"Just go inside. I know you all want to." I say and they all turn their heads to me, and have the decency to pretend that they meant it when we all agreed it was going to be a GIRLS week, and we weren't going to fret over guys, or flirt with cute guys on the beach. To be fair, we agreed to this before I knew my brother would be sharing the beach house. What kind of friend was I to dangle hot college guys in front of them and expect them not to pounce?
"We're fine. We said no guys!" May says with a nod of forced finality.
I let out a laugh. "You're all practically foaming at the mouth. Seriously, it's fine. Who were we kidding anyways?" I say.
They all look at me, and they can't tell if I'm serious or if them easily caving would be secretly frowned upon by everyone else in the group.
I lower my sunglasses. "I'm serious...there's no way we can avoid them, so might as well join em right?" I say and Sarah and Jazz smirk at each other and then look at the rest of us.
"Okay, cause seriously, that one with the tattoo on his bicep..SO FRICKEN HOT" Sarah says and I laugh slightly as the others agree.
They all stand, and I watch as they adjust their swim suits or bikinis, I watch Sarah put a wrap around her waist.
"Aren't you coming?" Lindsay asks.
"I'll be in in a second. The sun feels too good." I lie, as sweat drips down between my breasts.
They all shrug and enter the house a round of cheers from the guys as they see that we've accepted their invitation to join them in the kitchen for "pre game" drinks. Not sure what they were pregaming, as there was no event or game taking place. I suppose it was just pregaming more drinking.
It's not that I wanted to be anti social, or that I didn't like my brothers friends. I've met all of them before, as most of them went to the same high school too. The only reason I was avoiding going inside was Gavin Hale. I wouldn't call it crush really, more like a burn out the batteries in your vibrator at least once a week thinking about him, obsession that I'd had for a few years now.
I was a confident female, I didn't shy away from flirting with guys, either my age or a bit older. I knew how to talk to them, how to bat my eyes and laugh at what they said, how to touch them here and there , and how to make a move if I was actually interested. Gavin though? I turned into a red cheeked shy little idiot anytime I was around him.
I found an array of guys attractive. I didn't care about height or weight really, but I usually found myself attracted to men with tan or darker complexions, with dark hair, and dark or light eyes. Gavin was none of those things. He reminded me of an Abercrombie model. Your basic white boy, with his washboard abs, and that stupid panty dropping vicious V on his hips, and he had muscular arms, and legs. He also had blonde hair. Which normally , for me, either screamed douche bag, or good proper church boy..aka...no fun for me.
Maybe it was shallow, but it was my tastes. Gavin however, walked into my life and without knowing it threw a big fuck you to my tastes in guys. Because he was a fucking god. He was a scruffy face almost doppelganger for Paul Walker, except his hair was blonder, and longer, usually up in a fucking man bun. Me..attracted to a man bun. I internally roll my eyes at myself as I squirm in my lounge chair thinking about all the times I've watched him take that man bun out and then put it back in with his black hair tie. He had green eyes, and one had a quarter of it, that was also brown and god, he was just the most beautiful fucking human being, and I hated it. Not only that, he was six foot six, and towered over everyone around him, making him even more of a stand out. Again, height didnt normally matter . I was 5'8" and dated guys taller, and shorter than me. But for some reason I drooled over the fact he was six foot six.
When the door slides open to the back deck I turn my head and look, inhaling as I see a shirtless Gavin, hair already pulled back, walk over to the edge of the deck and look down at the pool and then at me.
"Baby Arbor" he calls and I wave, hating and also loving the nick name he's been calling me for years.
"Hey" I call back, because that's all I trust myself to say.
"We not good enough for you Baby A?" he teases and I let out a little laugh and shake my head.
"Just relaxing." I call back and he stands up straight and walks over to the steps.
Don't come down here. Don't come down here. Fuck. I curse internally as he starts to walk down the steps.
"It's hot as hell out here, you can't possibly be relaxed" he says, hitting the bottom step and walking around the pool..
"It's not that bad." I say and he sits down on the side of the lounger beside me.
"You better have sunscreen on." he says.
I give a slight laugh. "I do." I say.
He lifts his bottle of beer and takes a sip.
"So." he says and turns and lays back on the lounger, with the back propped up. "Brother ruined your girls week huh?" he gives a little laugh.
I shrug. "eh, not really, it's not like they wouldnt have found guys to flirt with on the beach." I say.
"Oh yeah? What about you? Who are you gonna flirt with?" he asks and I don't look at him, because I'm afraid of the pearly white teasing smile that will be looking back at me.
"I'm sure there's plenty of fish in the ocean" I gesture out towards the beach down in front of us.
He laughs.
"Plenty of hearts for you to break huh?" he says and I look over and his eyes, that were on my legs , move themselves to my face. He wasn't checking you out. I tell myself. Just..his eyes landed on your legs. Maybe he was looking at the pattern of the lounge cushion, or something else.
"I'm not a heart breaker." I reply.
"Yeah, I don't believe that for a second Baby A." he says and I notice his eyes do a quick down sweep before he looks away.
"You should come inside, too much sun isnt good for your skin." he says.
"We dont want you ending up one of those thirty year old already leather skinned, wrinkly ladies." he says.
I sigh. It was hot as fucking Satan's balls outside and the sun was at it's highest point and there werent any clouds what so ever to give me a break from the sun.
"Yeah, alright" I say, caving.
"Sweet, you gonna be on my team for hide and seek?" he asks.
I laugh as I stand.
"For what?" I ask.
"Drinking hide and seek." he says.
I cock a brow and look at him.
"How does one play drinking hide and seek?" I ask.
"Not sure...they're making up the rules right now." he says.
I laugh.
"but if there's teams...you're on mine." he says and elbow nudges me on the arm.
I hope the pink on my cheeks from the sun hides my blush.
"Yeah, okay." I say.
"Awesome" he says and I inhale when he slings an arm around me and walks beside me, up the stairs to the deck and into the house.

"The rules are, first pair found, have to take a shot. Second pair found, have to shotgun a beer. Third and fourth pairs found have to split a beer. Fifth pair found, doesnt have to drink. " My brother Andrew says.
"I already called Baby A as my partner." Gavin says and places a hand on my head and rubs it like I'm a cat. And god, I felt like one, a cat in fucking heat. I wanted to meow and purr at him, and rub up against him. Jesus Ava, calm down.
"yeah okay, whatever" My brother says rolling his eyes.
"I got Lindsay, since she's closest to me" My brother says.
The other guys look to the girls standing nearest to them and everyone nods in agreement to stick with the person next to them that they were already standing nearest to.
Me and Gavin. My brother Andrew with Lindsay. Kyle with Jess. Pete with May. Grayson with Jazz. and Trey with Sarah.
"You can hide in the same spot or separate. But obviously separate is best because then you both wont be found at the same time. Hide anywhere on the property. Dont go past the driveway, dont go into the neighboring yards, or past the pool patio. The counters, will wear the noise cancelling headphones in the entrance foyer, and listen to music with their eyes closed, and we'll set a timer " My brother adds to the rules.
"You get two minutes to hide, the pair that searches, searches together. Once you're found come wait in the foyer, since there's nowhere to hide in there. That's where we'll count." he says of him and Lindsay as he offers them up to count first.
Everyone of us is excited a bunch of eighteen and nineteen year old girls and early twenty something guys, pumped for a fucking game of hide and go seek. I can't help it the excitement is infectious and I can't help but feel the tingle of adrenaline.
Lindsay is laughing as she follows my brother to the foyer.
I look to Gavin who is smirking slightly, and takes a sip of his beer and sets it down on the kitchen counter.
"ALRIGHT, GO HIDE" my brother yells and the closes the door to the mud room/foyer where all of our sneakers and shoes are.
We all look at our partners and Gavin grabs my hand, and I follow him, running as he takes the lead.
