Donovan - Two weeks later 

“Is this one okay?” Madeline asks as she finishes putting on a pale pink and white gingham linen sundress that has capped short sleeves , a sweetheart neckline and falls just below her knees.

“Babe, you don’t have to ask me if what you’re wearing is okay. You can wear whatever the fuck you want. You’re gonna look hot as fuck no matter what.” I tell her as I lay on her bed on my back watching her with my hands behind my head. 

“I know you like the other dresses better.” She says of her more flowing goddess fairy like dresses. 

“Dress for you baby, not for me, and I love everything your wear” I tell her and she gives me a little scrunch of her perfect button nose. 

“I don’t want to make you feel awkward around your friends” she says and I sit up. 

“Why the hell would I feel awkward?” I ask. 

“Cause I’m not…like the girls you usually date” she says making me get up off the bed and walk over to her. 

“Yeah, you’re right, you’re fucking sexier than any other woman I’ve dated” I say grabbing her by her sides and leaning down and placing a kiss on her mouth. 

“The only thing that’s gonna be awkward is how much I’m gonna wanna punch everyone that looks at my fucking girl for too long cause she’s so fucking cute” I say and kiss her agains and she lets out a little laugh.

We take my suv to the bbq at the park that my friends are having. The second we come into view there’s a few raised brows but for the most part nobody gives a shit about who is with me. Just curious looks , because Madeliene is right , she looks far from the girls I’ve normally went after. There’s not a single tattoo on her body , I know. Cause I’ve spent the past two weeks touching and kissing on every single inch of her perfect body. She looks  like cotton candy and sweeter than fucking sugar , while all my past exes or girls I’ve hooked up with look like gunmetal and sharp as nails. 

I see Max , lifting a hand to wave as we walk over. Madelienes hand in mine and his brow cocks with surprise. Cause I know he thought my interest in her was probably fleeting or just some kind of conquest. So to see I’m still with her, and holding her hand, is probably a surprise to him. 

Then Carly , Max’s wife and Madelienes cousin turns her head brows furrowing and giving me a little death glare. I just smile at her and wave to her as well. 

“Carly is ready to slap the shit out of you.” Madelienes says quietly with a little laugh. 

Madeliene told me she’s talked to Carly about the fact that we’re dating. That Carly has “warned” her about me. And part of me is a little annoyed by it, but the other part of me doesn’t blame Carly. Cause I do have a reputation for not being a relationship guy that much. And Madeliene is someone worth being protective over, so I don’t fucking blame her all that much. 

“Hey” Max says as we walk up and I release  Madelienes hand as I give a one armed hug to Max while she gives Carly a quick hug. Then I turn and pull Carly into a hug as she huffs. 

“I’m gonna fucking kill you if you hurt her , you know that right?” She says loud enough for all of us to hear and I nod with a smile as Madeline scolds Carly. 

“Carly stop” she whispers with a flush to her face. 

“I will NOT stop, you’re my cousin” Carly says and Madeliene just shakes her head. 

But Carly gives me one more look with daggers and warning in her eyes as I pull Madeliene to my side then sighs and rolls her eyes. 

I get Madeliene a drink and one for myself, and give a two twenties to my friend Ryder who set it all up, to help pay for our drinks and food. 

“They only have beer” I say popping the tab and handing her a can of beer.

She smiles. “That’s okay” she says and takes a sip. 

“You want me to run to the store and get you some of the seltzer shit?” I ask and she smiles up at me. 

“I’m good.” She says and then puts her hand on my chest and I lean down and let her place a kiss on my mouth. “Thank you though” she says with a little smile and kisses me again. 

We walk around and I introduce her to a few friends of mine, and of course everyone loves her and a few of the girls that date my guy friends are making her feel welcome.  

I sit at one of the picnic tables as I watch her stand next to a group of the women , talking and laughing as they all talk to her. I can’t help but smile watching her. Her light pink and white dress such a contrasts to the other women wearing jeans shorts and dark tops , with their tattoos covering their arms and their piercings and such. She stands out, yet fits right in. 

“When’s the wedding?” Max says as he takes a seat next to me and I turn my head giving him a smile and looking back at Madeliene. 

“Funny” I say with a little laugh, even though I was pretty sure within the first few days of spending time with Madeliene that if I ever did get married, it was gonna be to her. And that feeling has only gotten stronger with each day. 

“I’m serious, you watch her like a Hawk, and look at her likes she farts out rainbows and sunshine” he says and I laugh. 

“She does” I say making him laugh. 

“So, you’re really serious about her ?” He asks and I nod looking at Madeliene who catches me watching her and she scrunches her nose at me with a little blush to her cheeks. 

“Very” I say as I give her a wink and she blushes even further and then turns her attention back to the women. 

“Lots of women are gonna be heart broken that Steel Draper is off the market and can no longer warm their beds” he says and I huff and roll my eyes. 

“Yeah, don’t care” I say and keep watching Madeliene. 

“Never thought I’d see the day honestly” he says. And I give him a quick look then let my eyes go back to Madeliene. 

“She’s fucking perfect Max” I say and he lets out a low whistle. 

“You’ve got it real bad, don’t you?” He teases me and I nod. 

“Yup” I agree and take a drink of my beer. 

“She’s got me wrapped around her fucking finger” I say and he gives a little laugh. 

“How’s the sex?” Max asks and I shoot him a look. 

“First of all, that’s your wife’s cousin. Second, I’m gonna need you to NOT think about what sex with my fucking girl is like” I warn him and his brows lift. 

“That good huh?” He laughs and then throws up his hands as I narrow my eyes at him. 

“Alright alright, geeze” he laughs. 

“It wasn’t meant to be disrespectful, I’m your best fucking friend, and I don’t have a single bit of interest in your fucking girl” he laughs. 

I grumble. Cause he’s right. Max and I gossip worse than fucking girls about our sex lives. Of course now that he’s married , most of his stories are limited other than the ones about him and Carly swinging with other couples. 

“She’s better than any other woman I’ve been with.” I say not wanting to get into graphic detail about the way Madeliene can take my fucking cock, or the way she sucks me off , or rides my fucking face. 

“Damn. Good for you” Max says as Carly comes over and sits down on Max’s lap. 

“Donovan” Carly calls my name. 

“Yeah?” I answer without taking my eyes of Madeliene. 

“Youre gonna have to talk to the side of his face. He won’t take his eyes off her” Max laughs and Carly sighs. 

“You better not fuck around on her” Carly says and I nod. 

“I know that. And haven’t and don’t fucking plan on it, and would never do that to her” I say as I look at Madeliene laughing a fully belly laugh, that makes me smile as I stare at her. 

“Look at him. He’s a fucking puppy” Max says. 

“Youre cousin has him locked down” Max says and Carly sighs. 

“Youre like a brother to me Donovan” Carly says. “And I want you to be happy , but she’s my cousin, and I’m not giving you a hard time because I don’t think you’re worthy of her, but she’s a good person and she’s dated some real fucking assholes, and I don’t want to see her hurt again” she says. 

“I know Car” I say and then look at Carly and nod. “I know.” I say again. 

“I don’t blame you for being protective of her. “ I say and look back to Madeliene. 

“Cause she’s fucking perfect, and she deserves the best, and I’m only trying to be that for her” I say and Carly sighs. 

“God, I’d never have thought Donovan Steel Draper would end up in puppy love with my own cousin” she sighs and I just give her a quick smile. 

“She’s amazing Car.” I say and shake my head. “And I don’t know what the fuck she sees in me either, but I know I’m fucking lucky. And don’t have any fucking intention of screwing things up with her.” I say. 

“Just….just keep it that way” she says and I nod. 

“Promise” I say. “I couldn’t hurt her…fucking look at her…” I say and Max gives a little laugh. 

Madeliene looks back over and sees the three of us together and then excused herself from the group of women and walks over , tossing her empty beer can in the trash and then over to us with a smile on her face. 

“I could hear my ears ringing” she teases as she looks to Carly who gives her a little shrug and a smile and then I reach out and spread my legs to let her sit on one , her arm sliding behind my back as she smiles at me. 

I slide my hand up and down her back. 

“You want me to get you some food , or another drink?” I ask her and she shakes her head. 

“I’m fine” she says and then I give her a kiss on her forehead and Carly sighs. 

“Okay, well, I have to admit. You’re fucking cute together” she sighs again and I laugh. 

“It helps when I’ve got the cutest girl in the world on my lap” I say to Madeliene and she rolls her eyes with a little blush. 

“I’m gonna vomit” Max teases and Carly slaps his chest and takes his hand. “Come on were next in horse shoes” she says and then gets off his lap and drags him off. 

“You having a good time?” I ask Madeliene and she nods. 

“Mhm” she hums and then smiles at me and then kisses me. 

I lift my hand to her face , and kiss her again and then slip just the slightest bit of tongue and grin when she lets out the softest little hum. 

“Wanna go for a walk?” I ask with a little grin. 

She nods. “Yes. Most definitely yes.”
